Pembuatan Biodiesel Dari Limbah Lemak Ayam Dengan Katalis Koh
The fat content of broiler chicken about 10.9% body weight. These fats can be utilized for biodiesel making materials, so as to cope with environmental pollution and more economical value. The purpose of this study was to make biodiesel from chicken fat by using KOH as a catalyst. To know the optimum condition of biodiesel making with variation of KOH catalyst weight and reaction time and to determine the quality of biodiesel product from chicken fat by testing physical properties and chemical properties. The variation changed was the weight of KOH catalyst 0.5 gr; 0.75 gr and 1 g with variation of reaction time 60 minutes, 120 minutes and 180 minutes. Research methodology is broiler fat waste extracted its fat by way of heating. Fat is reacted with a mixture of KOH and methanol catalysts to produce biodiesel. Transesterification of the process is carried out by varying the reaction time and the weight of the catalyst. The best reaction time was obtained at 60 minutes and the weight of a 0.5 gram KOH catalyst yielded a yield of 74.12%. Characteristics of biodiesel is Viscosity of 10.45cSt; Density of 0.88 g/ml; Calorific value 9521,69 cal/kg and flash point 164oC.
