Analisis Hasil Tangkapan Sampingan (By-Catch Dan Discard) Pengerih Di Desa Bantar Kecamatan Rangsang Barat Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti

Pengerih is a static fishing gear that belongs to a group of traps operated in the area around the coast. On the operation, pengerih not only produce the main catch but also get the by-catch. This study aims to identify the types of main catch, by-catch and discard. The research method used is survey method by doing direct observation of the pengerih’s catch result and then the catch is identified to fish species, individual number and fish weight. The result of the test f states the hypothesis H0 is rejected means there is an average difference between the main catch, by-cacth and discard. From the research results obtained the main catch consists of 3 types of shrimp species with a total weight of 29.2 kg. By-catch and discard caught are small fish and young fish, by-catch consists of 10 species with total weight of 10.59 kg and discard consists of 5 types with total weight of 2.56 kg. From the f-test analysis, there is an average difference of the three catch categories that is discard and by-catch as well by-catch and the main catch resulted in a significantly different effect, while the discard and main catch produced significantly different effects.
