Ekstraksi Tanin Dari Kulit Buah Manggis Sebagai Bahan Dasar Tinta Spidol Yang Aman Dan Tidak Berbahaya
Ink markers are tools that often used for writing on the whiteboard. It's different from chalk, ink markers have high levels of VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) and very harmful to health due to the xylene content in it. One of the chemical constituents in mangosteen peel is tannin. Tannins that contained in mangosteen peel can be processed back into the basic ingredients of ink marker that safe and harmless and is one effort to reduce health hazards due to the presence of xylene in the content of ink markers. The purpose of this research is to comparison beetwen snowman ink marker and ink result of research with viscosity test, surface tension test, paper chromatography test, Non Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) test, and Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) test. The natural ink of the research were made with several variations: A (Tanin 5 ml, 5 ml resin, 10 ml aquadest, 10 ml ethanol, 5 ml propylene glycol), B (Tanin 3.5 ml, 25 ml acetone, 7 ml glycerin, FeCl3 4ml), C Tanin 5 ml, 7 ml glycerine, thinner 25 ml, FeCl3 4 ml). The research was conducted in several stages: raw material preparation, extraction, evaporation, qualitative analysis, ink preparation and natural ink testing with ink marker snowman. The best and closest results of the ink in the snowman marker are the natural C inks made with a 5 ml tannin composition, 7 ml of glycerin, 25 ml thinner, and 4 ml of FeCl3.
