Pembuatan Pulp Dari Bahan Baku Campuran Kulit Jagung Dan Tongkol Jagung
Pulp industry generally uses wood as raw material for pulp making. The limited number of wood raw materials causes a raw material crisis. Indonesia is a rich country of agricultural and plantation products, one of which is corn. Corn and corncobs contain 44.08% cellulose content that can be used for pulp making. This research uses raw material of corn husk and corn cob. The fixed variables were temperature 100oC, 2% NaOH concentration, cooking time 60 minutes, raw material ratio and 1: 10 solvent and semi-mechanical process. The variables changed in the study were the ratio of the weight of variation of raw materials, namely corn skin plus Corn Cobs (KJ and TJM) with the weight ratio of 1: 1, 2: 1, 3: 1, and corn skin plus old corncobs (KJ and TJT ) With a weight ratio of 1: 1, 2: 1, 3: 1 material variation. This research conducted pulp test such as water content test, kappa number test, tear strength and tensile strength. The best result of tensile strength was found in the variation of KJ and TJT material in the ratio of the weight of the 1: 1 material variation with the value of 2.8013 kN / m and the best result of tear strength was obtained on the variation of KJ and TJM materials in the weight ratio of material 1: 1 with 633 , 4 mN, and the highest kappa number on KJ and TJT material variation with the weight ratio of 3: 1 material. From the parameters that have been tested, the pulp from corn husk and corncob can be used as newsprint and art paper.
