Potensi Tanah Gambut Sebagai Media Kultivasi Mikroalga
Peat soil is an organic material that is formed from organic materials, peat soil has several macro nutrient content (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Carbon (C)) and micro (Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn) (nutrient) . Microalgae are micro-sized plant groups, both single cells and colonies that live in all areas of freshwater and marine waters. Nutritional factors are one of the important factors that need to be considered in the growth of microalgae. The purpose of this study is to determine the chemical properties and physical properties of peat soil and to assess the extent to which peat soil has the potential to supply nutrients in microalgae cultivation. In this study, before analyzing the chemical properties of each peat soil sample, it was reconstructed after pH measurement was carried out. Metal content test using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) was then carried out to determine nitrate content by titration method, and determination of phosphorus content using a spectrophotometer. Furthermore, the analysis of the physical properties of peat soil such as water content, test the level of maturity of peat soil, and the color test of peat soil. From the results of the study, from several peat soil samples taken in several villages in Bengkalis (Singgoro Village, Air Putih Village, Sungai alam Village) and Selat Panjang (Sungai Tohor Barat Village, Tohor Village, and Nifah Sendanu Village) that peat soil provides an element both nutrients and microalgae are needed in growth such as C, N, P, Mg, Mn, Zn and Cu. Peat soil also has physical properties in the form of colors that tend to be blackish brown, water content is 58.9%, and the maturity of peat soil is sapric (ripe).
