Pemanfaatan Limbah Spent Bleaching Earth (Sbe) Sebagai Bahan Campuran Pada Pembuatan Batako
Utilization of Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) in brick making was an alternative effort to reduced the amount of SBE solid waste in the industry. The characteristics of SBE was almost like sand, but have finer particles, so it could replace the amount of sand. The purpose of this research was to utilized SBE for bricks making, the varied of SBE’s weight for bricks qualities (dry weight of brick, water adsorpstion and compressive strength of brick), and to compared the quality of brick based SBE and without SBE. In this study, bricks were made by using volume ratio1 : 4 of cements : sand.. By adding SBE, the amount of sand was reduced by 0.3 kg in each variation of the bricks. The variation of SBE’s bricks were 0 kg; 0.15 kg; 0.45 kg; 0.75 kg; 1.05 kg; 1.35 kg; 3 kg; and 4.5 kg. The fixed variables were 2.5 kg of cement and 1.25 kg of water, while the independent variables were the amount of sand and SBE. From the research results, it could be seen that the most qualified SBE’s bricks has 11.72 MPa for compressive strength (SNI- 03-0349-1989), 1.28% for water adsorpstion (SNI 15-2094-2000) with maximum 20% for water adsorption which 2.5 kg of cement, 8.25 kg of sand, and 0.15 kg of SBE’s brick.
