Hubungan Aktivitas Fisik Dengan Kontrol Gula Darah Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 Di Puskesmas Kota Pekanbaru
Diabetes mellitus (type 2 DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) caused by insulin deficiency, insulin resistance or both. Prevention of DM complications through controlling blood sugar levels is one of the main goals of type 2 DM patient management. Physical exercise is one of the four pillars of type 2 DM management. This study was aimed to determine the relationship between physical activity and blood sugar control in type 2 DM patients in Pekanbaru Public Health Center. This was an analytical observational study with cross sectional approach. This study included 103 of type 2 DM patients from Sidomulyo and Simpang Tiga Public Health Center in Pekanbaru from April-June 2018. The subject were mostly female (63.1%) and aged >45 years (95,1%). The highest level of education of the subject was senior high school (43.7%) and 50.5% patient have job. The family history of DM was found in 67% of subjects and most of them are non smokers of these patients (84.5%). As much as 63.1% DM patients used 2 types of oral hypoglycemic drugs and 34% were obese. Most patients with type 2 diabetes have moderate activity (58.3%) and uncontrolled blood sugar (81.6%). The results of this study showed that there was a relationship between physical activity and blood sugar control in type 2 DM patients (p= 0,000).
