Kelimpahan Kima (Tridacna Sp.) Di Ekosistem Terumbu Karang Perairan Pantai Tuapejat Kecamatan Sipora Utara Kabupaten Mentawai, Sumatera Barat
Giant clams is one of the protected marine animals in the world. Giant clams belonged to the Bivalva class, a group of soft-bodied animals protected by a pair of cupped shells. A research aims to determine the abundance, density and the distribution pattern of giant clams (Tridacnidae) was conducted in August 2018. A belt transect method was applied. Results shown that there were 2 types of clams namely Tridacna crocea and Tridacna maxima present. There was 182 clams in the research area ( 3000 m), that was consisted of T. crocea (173 clams) and T.maxima ( 9 clams). The distribution of T. crocea was clustered, while that of T. maxima was uniform. Keywords: Clams, Abundance, Density and Distribution Pattern
