This study aims to examine the effect of using Cabri 3DV2Plus software with cooperative interaction setting learning models on students’ numerical intelligence and mathematical understanding of transformation material at SMA 3 Padangsidimpuan. This research is motivated by the low numerical intelligence and mathematical understanding of students in learning mathematics. The low numerical intelligence and mathematical understanding of students can be caused by several things, such as the low ability of students to think logically in doing mathematical calculations. The low ability to solve this problem can be seen in the inability of students to answer questions. Students' ability to connect between material concepts and problems in the problem is also still low. Students have difficulty in identifying and analyzing the shape of objects undergoing transformation. They also find it difficult to understand each concept of transformation and determine the right solution for solving transformation problems.
In regard to this issue, it is necessary to have a tool in the form of media that can overcome the difficulties experienced by students. One of the media that can be used is the Cabri 3DV2Plus software which emphasizes numerical intelligence and mathematical understanding. Cabri 3DV2Plus software which is combined with an interactive learning model of cooperative settings can support the learning process to become more optimal. This software is then applied in the experimental class. Whereas conventional learning is done in the control class. Conventional learning is a learning concept that is used by teachers in discussing a subject matter that is commonly used in the learning process, which in this case is in accordance with the 2013 curriculum using the scientific approach.
This study is aimed at examining and describing the effect of using Cabri3DV2Plus software with an interactive learning model of cooperative settings on students' numerical intelligence and mathematical understanding of transformation material in SMAN 3 Padangsidempuan. The design used in this study is the Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. The population of this study was all XI graders in SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan. The sampling technique in this study was carried out by random sampling. The random sampling was based on classes rather than an individual. Then, the samples are grouped based on the students' level of ability (high, medium, and low). Six classes consisting of three experimental classes and three control classes were obtained and selected as the samples.
The instruments of this study are all learning documents, including the syllabus, Lesson Plans (RPP), and Student Worksheets (LKPD). Data collection techniques were carried out by administering two tests namely numerical intelligence test and mathematical understanding test.
Validation was done by three validators. The validation starts from the syllabus validation, lesson plan, to students worksheet (LKPD) validation. It was obtained that the average value of validation for syllabus was 3.8; lesson plan was 3.7; and LKPD was 3.88. This means that the three components have a very valid validation level and are worthy of use in learning. Whereas, for the instrument validation, it was obtained that the five numerical intelligence test questions and five mathematical understanding test questions are valid and reliable.
Students' numerical intelligence and mathematical understanding were analyzed using inferential statistical analysis techniques. To test the hypothesis data, statistical analysis was performed using the Normality test, homogeneity test, Independent Sample t-test, and Two-way ANOVA test. The results of the data analysis were as following:
For the first hypothesis, it was obtained that the value of t-count = 11.15 ≥ t-table = 1.973, then H0 is rejected. This means that the numerical intelligence of students of SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan who learned using 3DV2Plus Cabri software with interactive learning models of cooperative settings is better than students who get conventional learning.
For the second hypothesis, it was obtained that the value of F-count = 5.256 > F-table = 3.162. This means that H0 is rejected. If seen based on the significance, it was obtained that 0.006 < 0.05, H0 is rejected. So, it can be concluded that there is an interaction using the Cabri 3DV2Plus software for numerical intelligence in terms of the level of students' abilities.
For the third hypothesis, it was obtained that Fcount = 50.626 > Ftable = 3.162, then H0 was rejected. This means that numerical intelligence of students of SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan who learned using 3DV2Plus cabri software with interactive learning models of cooperative setting is better than students who received conventional learning in terms of students' ability level ( high, medium and low).
For the fourth hypothesis, it was obtained that the value of t-count = 11.201 ≥ value of t-table = 2.042, then H0 is rejected. This means that the numerical intelligence of students of SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan who learned by using 3DV2Plus cabri software with interactive learning models in cooperative settings is better than students who get conventional learning in terms of the high level of students’ ability.
For the fifth hypothesis, it was obtained that the value of t-count is 9.819 ≥ t-table value = 2.042, then H0 is rejected. This means that numerical intelligence of students of SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan who learned using 3DV2Plus cabri software with interactive learning models in cooperative settings is better than students who get conventional learning in terms of the medim level of students’ ability.
For the sixth hypothesis, it was obtained that the value of t-count is = 4,861 ≥ the value of ttable = 2,042, then H0 is rejected. This means that numerical intelligence of students of SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan who learned using 3DV2Plus cabri software with interactive learning models in cooperative settings is better than students who get conventional learning in terms of the low level of students.
For the seventh hypothesis, it was obtained that the value of t-count is = 9,642 ≥ the value of ttable = 1,973, then H0 is rejected. This means that mathematical understanding of students of SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan who learned using 3DV2Plus cabri software with interactive learning models in cooperative settings is better than students who get conventional learning
For the eigth hypothesis, it was found that the value of Fcount = 10,285 > Ftable = 3,162 which means that H0 is rejected. If seen based on the significance, it was obtained that 0.00 < 0.05. This means that H0 is rejected. So, it can be concluded that there is an interaction using Cabri 3DV2Plus software on students' mathematical understanding in terms of the level of students' abilities.
For the nineth hypothesis, it was found that the value of Fcount = 20,880 > Ftable = 3,162 which means that H0 is rejected. It can be understood that mathematical understanding of students of SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan who learned using 3DV2Plus cabri software with interactive learning models of cooperative setting is better than students who received conventional learning in terms of students' ability level ( high, medium and low).
For the tenth hypothesis, it was found that the value of tcount = 5,755 ≥the value of ttable = 2,042, meaning that H0 is rejected. This further can be understood that mathematical understanding of students of SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan who learned by using 3DV2Plus cabri software with interactive learning models in cooperative settings is better than students who get conventional learning in terms of the high level of students’ ability.
For the eleventh hypothesis, it was found that the value of tcount = 10,091 ≥ the value of ttabel = 2,042, so H0 is rjected. This means that mathematical understanding of students of SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan who learned using 3DV2Plus cabri software with interactive learning models in cooperative settings is better than students who get conventional learning in terms of the medim level of students’ ability.
For the twleveth hypothesis, it was found that the value of tcount = 3,411 ≥ the value of ttable = 2,042, so H0 is rejewcted. This means that mathematical understanding of students of SMAN 3 Padangsidimpuan who learned using 3DV2Plus cabri software with interactive learning models in cooperative settings is better than students who get conventional learning in terms of the low level of students.
Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the numerical intelligence and mathematical understanding of students are better taught by Cabri 3DV2Plus software with an interactive learning model of cooperative settings compared with conventional learning. As for the level of students' ability (high, medium, and low), there are differences in students' numerical intelligence and mathematical understanding between students who learned using Cabri 3DV2Plus with an interactive learning model of cooperative settings and those who learned using conventional learning. The findings of this study can be considered by other researchers to conduct the same research at the junior and senior high school levels.
