Moreover, in responding to the previous issue, the writer conducted a study by referring to the theory of principals' leadership pattern in building up work motivation of teachers and staffs, creating a conducive ambiance of school, and creating decent character of the students. Furthermore, this study was carried out under qualitative descriptive approach with observation, interview, and documentation as the collecting data techniques. Afterward, the collected data were compiled, classified, analyzed, and interpreted using words to describe the objects of the ongoing research, so that proportional and logical conclusions could be taken. The validity of the data obtained was tested using credibility tests (internal validation), transferability (external validation), dependability (reliability), and confirmability (objectivity). Based on the analysis result of the collected data, it showed that the principal of SMA Negeri 1 Pangkalan Kerinci tended to use transformational leadership pattern. It was proved in the research findings that 1) in building up the teachers and staff’s work motivation, the principal provided ‘coaching session’, showed a good leadership, conveyed the instructions wisely, prioritized the effectiveness of educational institutions, in which it covered: involving a good work ethic and well-managed management, seeking for educators who had high expectations, and developing educators as a positive role model. Besides, there was likely a good interaction with the members of educator and administrative that could possibly create such harmony and unity among teachers and staffs. 2) The principal as the leader had an obligation to create a conducive ambiance of school. In this point, it could be done by raising the safety and security, forming the teaching and learning process, also establishing and maintaining good relations for all school members. 3) The principal of SMA Negeri 1 Pangkalan Kerinci tried to impart every value and character in all students.
