Every oil company, one of them is PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia Kotabatak must meet the Minister of Environment Regulation No. 19 of 2010 concerning Produced Water in Appendix I Letter C. Concerning Wastewater Quality Standards for Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Activities from the New On-Shore Facility. This regulation must be implemented so that environmental sustainability is maintained. So that the waste produced can be minimized as effectively as possible before being discharged into the environment.
In addition, PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia Kotabatak also has responsibility for the socio-economic local community in accordance with Law no. 40 of 2007 Article 1 Paragraph 3. The Existence of PT. CPI Kotabatak directly or indirectly had good and bad impacts on the socio-economic conditions of the local community, so PT. CPI Kotabatak needs to minimize the adverse effects that arise. Therefore, the object of research used in this study is the effort of PT. CPI Kotabatak in managing the environment and improving the social economy of the local community.
This research was conducted in January - March 2019. The location of this research is around the Collecting Station of PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) Kotabatak as part of PT. CPI Sumatra is located in Kampar Regency, Riau Province and an area that is suspected to be affected by wastewater (produced water). This location was chosen because the location contained various activities or processes of efforts to achieve the quality standard of produced water from the GS (Gathering Station) of PT. CPI Kotabatak before being discharged into the environment. This research approach is a quantitative approach with survey methods and sampling with purposive sampling technique.
Produced water management PT. CPI Kotabatak from research in the field has been in accordance with the provisions of the quality standards of existing regulations, namely Minister of Environment Regulation No. 19 of 2010 concerning Produced Water in Appendix I Letter C. Concerning Wastewater Quality Standards for Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Activities from the New On-Shore Facility.
PT. CPI Kotabatak related to its responsibility towards the social economy of the local community has been carried out in accordance with Law No. 40 of 2007 Article 1 paragraph 3. Besides, PT. CPI Kotabatak also maintains the sustainability of its programs and increases socialization and publication to the company's external community.
PT. CPI Kotabatak continuously improves its environmental management so as to obtain optimal results. Corporate Social Responsibility Program PT. CPI Kotabatak has been quite effective and has benefited local residents.
In the future, similar research needs to be done on companies / oil palm plantations around the area of PT. CPI Kotabatak as a comparison, given that the real conditions in the field show the operations of PT. CPI is in a side-by-side condition with owners or entrepreneurs of oil palm plantations and PTPN.
In order to anticipate the socio-economic conditions of the community around the operational area of PT. CPI Kotabatak which is increasingly complex for the future, efforts to improve environmental management and implement CSR programs that are targeted to be more optimized.
Companies to continuously make efforts to approach the community who live in the vicinity of the operation area to minimize the conditions that are not expected to be shared, especially with regard to security, health and safety. This effort is very important considering the operational condition of PT. CPI Kotabatak in the area is very open and has the potential for unwanted things to happen.
