Pengaruh Lingkungan Rumah Dan Perilaku Masyarakat Dengan Kejadian Penyakit Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) Di Kota Pekanbaru
The dengue fever is a disease which can be infected by the bite of Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus mosquitos. The dengue fever is the disease with high death rate in Indonesia. It may appear throughout the year and can attack every age. This disease has a connection with the environment condition and the society’s behavior.
The efforts to control and prevent the dengue fever have been done by the Government of Pekanbaru like the action from juru pemantau jentik (jumantik), vector control by fogging, 3M plus action, also various efforts from the health workers, but the rate of dengue fever is still occur year by year. The action does not osculate the society’s participation in controlling the vector. Also there is still no improvement toward the environment factor and the behavior that may cause dengue fever incident.
This research aimed at analyzing the correlation between house environment, 3M plus behavior, income, and the dominant factor toward dengue fever in Pekanbaru. The research was quantitative with case control study approach. The population was all of the patients with dengue fever from January-march 2019 based on medical records in Arifin Ahmad Regional Public Hospital with the sample total were 28 cases and 28 controls. The data analyzed by statistics test of chi square and logistic regression.
The result of the research showed that the variable that affecting to dengue fever were the lighting (p value=0,000), temperature (p value=0,001), humidity (p value=0,000), the existence of mosquito larvae (p value=0,032). 3M plus behavior and family income also have a connection with dengue fever incident. The dominant variable toward dengue fever incident was temperature with OR 20.7. House environment variable, (lighting, temperature, humidity, the existence of mosquito larvae), 3M plus behavior and income are in the relation with dengue fever incident. The most dominant factor to dengue fever incident was temperature.
Pekanbaru is one of the crowded mobility societies and high people’s population. The more population in the region may increase the possibility of exposure to many people. If the mosquito bites someone which suffering viremia, the mosquito will be infected. Aedes aegypti mosquitos take their habit at the dark place, humid room, and the low lightning intensity (dark). In daily activities, the mosquito needs a high temperature and supported by the humid air. The speed of mosquito’s growth depends on its metabolism speed which is regulated by temperature. The humidity of air determines the range of mosquito’s life. The low humidity will shorten mosquito’s life. On the higher humidity, the mosquitos will become more active and often biting so it causes the increasing of dengue fever infection.
The effort in controlling dengue fever for society can be done by 3M plus action. This effort is one of the ways to cut off the infection chain by eradicate the mosquito’s larvae. As the result, the physical environment factor like, lighting, temperature, humidity, and the existence of mosquito’s larvae are affecting to dengue fever disease. Also the 3M plus behavior and the income level also affecting the dengue fever disease in Pekanbaru.
From the result of the research, I suggest to fix the house’s component which becomes the breeding place for mosquitos. For the example, open the window in daylight so the lighting in the house can fulfill the requirements and reducing the air humidity of house. Never let a dark room or place inside the house.
The effort about environment health can be done by the counseling from health departments, supported by the community health centers, about the importance of 3M plus program, like: reducing the habit to hang the cloth in the bedroom, raising the fish which eats larvae to push the population of Aedes aegypti mosquitos, so it can minimize the infection of dengue fever disease.
