Pengembangan Perangkat Pembelajaran Matematika Diawali Dari Soal Cerita Dalam Konteks Budaya Melayu Riau Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Peserta Didik
This research is underlied by the low ability of students to Mathematical problem solving. This is because of minimul learning media which can facilitate the students to develop their Mathematical problem solving ability. Based on the results of observation and analysis towards learning media used by teachers at some Junior High Schools in Kampar Regency, obtained information that the learning media arranged are not in line yet with what has been determined in curriculum 2013. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to produce Mathematics learning media started from story questions in Malay culture context of Riau which fulfill valid, practical, and effective criteria to improve students’ Mathematical problem solving ability on topics two-dimensional figures.
The type of research used was Research and Development (R&D). The developed learning media used 4-D model consisted of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The learning media developed in this research were syllabus, RPP, LKPD, and test instruments for Mathematical Problem Solving Ability (KPMM). The instruments used to obtain data validity of the learning media were validation sheets. While the instrument used for collecting practicality data were observation sheets of implementation and students’ questionnaire responses. The instrument used to obtain effectivity data was KPMM test questions.
Learning media is said valid if the average percentage of validators’ assessment is more than 70% and can be tested. Learning media is said practical if the percentage of practicality is more than 70%, can be applied by teachers and students as well as the level of implementation in the minimal category good. While for the effectivity, it is said effective if the percentage of test results (Mathematical problem solving ability) of the students achieve KKM criterial classically at minimum 75% in line with KKM for Mathematics lesson compulsory determined by the school is 75.
The analysis result of syllabus validity achieves 80,56%, RPP achieves 81,43%, and LKPD achieves 7,34%. The analysis result of KPMM test instrument validity for pre-test questions is 78,94% and post-test question is 78,86%. The three validators conclude that syllabus, RPP, LKPD, and KPMM test questions can be used with a little revision. Therefore, the learning media developed is proper to be tried out as learning media on topics two-dimensional figures.
The result of learning media legibility on small group try out towards LKPD is 96,73%, the practicality result on big group try out obtains the average 93,06%. Based on the students’ questionnaire responses towards
LKPD obtains overall average is 91,21%. Therefore, the learning media being developed can be concluded as practical.
Based on the result of analysis test of KPMM data obtains the fact that the percentage of students who achieves KKM after using the learning media developed is 75%. This shows that Mathematics learning media with scientific approach in Malay culture context of Riau is effective to improve students’ learning achievement on topics two-dimensional figures at Grade VIII Junior High Schools.
Learning media can also improve students’ Mathematical problem solving ability. This fact is obtained from t-test. Based on t-test conducted obtains significance level 0,00 until it can be concluded that H0 is rejected or there is difference between experimental class and control class. Therefore, there is difference of Mathematical problem solving ability between students who used learning media developed and students who do not use learning media developed.
