Penyisihan Warna, Zat Organik, Dan Besi (Fe) Pada Air Gambut Secara Adsorpsi Menggunakan Magnetic Biochar Dari Cangkang Sawit Dengan Variasi Dosis Adsorben Dan Waktu Kontak
ABSTRACT
Magnetic biochar is rich carbon solid from biomass with the addition of
magnetic and pyrolysis properties. It has a potential application as adsorbent.
The purpose of this research is to synthesize magnetic biochar from palm kernell
shells and to study the effect of magnetic biochar dosage and contact time on
removal of color, organic substances, and Fe in peat water. Magnetic biochar
was prepared by impregnation using FeCl3.6H2O at a ratio of 0,5 (FeCl3.6H2O:
palm kernell shell) and pyrolysis at 550oC for 20 minutes. The operating
conditions of the adsorption process of magnetic biochar were 1.25; 3.15; 5; 6.8;
8.55 g/l peat water and contact time of 30; 60; 90; 120; 150 minutes. Magnetic
biochar products were tested using proximate analysis. The result showed a
moisture content of 1,13%, ash content 4,99%, volatile matter 15,85%, and fixed
carbon at 78,03%. The highest removal of color and organic substances in peat
water was 69,1% and 54,5% respectively with a 8,55 g/l magnetic biochar dosage
and 150 minutes contact time. The concentration of color and organic matter
decreased from 1830 Pt/Co and 437,8 mg/l to 565Pt/Co and 199,3 mg/l. On the
contrary Fe concentration increased from 0,07 mg/l to 0,60 mg/l with a 1,25 g/l
magnetic biochar and 30 minutes contact time. The results of peat water
treatment in this study still haven’t reached the quality standards, because they
have not reached equilibrium for the allowance for pollutants.
