Pengaruh Ph Terhadap Pembentukan Bioetanol Dari Ekstrak Pelepah Kelapa Sawit Menggunakan Saccharomyces Cerevisiae
ABSTRACT
Oil Palm frond extract is a potential waste as a source of bioethanol formation
substrate because of the simple sugar composition. Use Saccharomyces cerevisiae
in the production of bioethanol has the advantage because Saccharomyces
cerevisiae is the best microbe for bioethanol fermentation. Fermentation type is
determined by several factors, one of which acidity (pH). Certain pH range will
cause changes in the activity of microorganisms and have a significant influence
on the working of enzymes because of their specific working pH. The purpose of
this research was to determine the effect of pH on biethanol production, total and
soluble COD removal, VSS growth and TAV production from anaerobic
processes. The research concept is using the principle of a batch reactor in the
form of erlenmeyer. The reactor have 250 mL capacity with 150 mL operational
volume , ratio of substrate to inoculum = 90: 10 (% v / v). This study used four
variations of pH, namely control pH, pH 3.5-4.5, pH 4.5-5, and pH 5.5-6.5 with a
retention time for a 3 days. Results showed that the highest efficiency of removal
of total COD and soluble COD respectively at 50,00% and 80,00% with the
highest VSS growth rate of 58,33 mg / L / hr. The highest TAV production was
obtained in R3 (pH 5.5-6.5) of 29,07 mg / L / h with production efficiency of
42,86%. The highest bioethanol production was obtained at R1 (pH 3.5-4.5),
which is 15% (v / v).
