Pengaruh Perbandingan Rasio Tandan Kosong Sawit Dan Lumpur Ipal Minyak Sawit Serta Tekanan Pengepresan Terhadap Kualitas Briket
ABSTRACT
Energy needs at this time still depend on fossil fuels that can not be renewed,
therefore we need alternative fuels that are renewable, environmentally friendly
and economical, one of which is briquettes. Palm empty fruit bunches and palm
oil mill sludge can be utilized as raw material for making briquettes. In this study
Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunches were carbonated at 450 ° C for 90 minutes and
palm sludge at 300 ° C for 60 minutes. Variations in the variables used were
pressures of 90, 100, and 110 bar pressures as well as the composition of waste
oil palm empty fruit bunches and oil palm sludge, namely 90%: 10%, 80%: 20%,
70%: 30%, and 60%: 40%. The results showed that the best heating value of
briquettes and compressive strength of briquettes were found in the composition
of raw materials 90%: 10% with a pressing pressure of 110 bar, namely the
heating value of 5098.82 cal / gr and compressive strength of 4.86 kg / cm2 with
water content 2.5%, 5% ash content, 9.5% volatile matter content and 83%
carbon content. Based on ANOVA test results, it showed that the composition of
raw materials had a significant effect on the calorific value and compressive
strength while the pressing pressure had a significant effect on the compressive
strength of the briquettes produced.
Keywords: briquettes, oil palm empty fruit bunches, palm oil WWTP sludge.
