Pengawetan Kayu Terentang (Campnosperma Auriculatum (Blume) Hook.F.) Dengan Ekstrak Buah Bintaro Terhadap Serangan Hama Rayap Tanah (Macrotermes Gilvus)
Terentang (Campnosperma auriculatum (Blume) Hook.F.) is one of the local
wood that grows in Indonesia. Terentang is not much used for raw material due to
its low durability class. Preservation on terentang needs to be done so that
terentang can have a high level of durability. Wood preservation typically
consisted of natural or artificial material. One potential natural material that can
be used for preservation is bintaro fruit. The purpose of this research is to
investigate extracts of bintaro fruit effectivity as a natural wood preservation
material to ground termite infestation. The research is conducted by using
Complete Random Design (CRD), which consisted of five treatment with five
times iteration to acquire 25 units of experiment. The treatment that was done is:
P1 = control, P2 = terentang with 5% soaked preservation material + 95% distilled
water, P3 = terentang with 10% soaked preservation material + 90% distilled
water, P4 = terentang with 15% soaked preservation material + 85% distilled
water, and P5 = terentang with 20% soaked preservation material + 80% distilled
water. The acquired data from the experiment was analysed with random variance
using SPSS 20.0. If the random variance has a real impact, further analysis was
done using Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at a 5% level. The
result of the research shows that P3 (Terentang with 10% soaked natural
preservation material + 90% distilled water) is the best treatment with the lowest
damage level and preservation level of 7, according to ASTM D 1758-02
standard. Therefore, bintaro fruit is proven to be used as a natural wood
preservation material.
