Critical thinking ability as one of the higher order thinking skills in mathematics is very essential to be developed. Critical thinking ability becomes the focus of attention in mathematics since through this critical thinking process, students are able to use their mind to overcome and solve daily matters. One of the efforts that can be taken to improve the learning quality and to develop critical thinking ability of mathematics is by utilizing technology product as learning resource. The technology product that commonly utilized by the students is android based smartphone. Beside its function as communication device, android based smartphone also can be converted as various learning resources to support learning activities. Therefore, this study is aimed to develop an android based mathematical learning resource in order to improve critical thinking ability of junior high school students.
The method of developing learning resources uses the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. This study produces mathematics learning resource using android application that is valid and practical for use by students. Learning resource using the developed android application is equipped with animated videos, sample questions, practice questions, summaries, competency tests and others. Learning resource that has been developed through the coding process on Android Studio is validated by three validators who act as media experts and learning material experts. The results of the validation on the learning media aspect met the very valid criteria with an average of 86.83 percent while the learning material aspect met the valid criteria with an average value of 82.93 percent. Learning source that has been declared valid were tried out on 9 students to find out the practical level of learning resources. The results of practicality through student response questionnaires meet the very practical criteria with a value of 4.3. After testing, learning resources are evaluated by revising learning resources before they are used and published on Google Playstore.
