3.89 million hectares out of 6.49 million hectares of the total peatland area on the
island of Sumatra. Approximately 1,037,020 ha of peatland in Riau Province that
can be utilized and managed in the agricultural sector. One of the efforts to use

which is located in Dayun District, Siak Regency, Lalang Village which is located
in Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency, and Lalang Tanjung Village which is
located in Tebing Tinggi Barat District, Meranti Islands Regency. Apart from
peatland use, another factor that supports the application of agroforestry systems
is that agroforestry systems have different and unique characteristics compared to
monoculture systems. The unique thing that can be seen from the agroforestry
system is that the types of products produced are very diverse compared to
monoculture systems that only produce one type of product. However,
agroforestry development is influenced by community responses or perceptions.

peatlands in Riau Province. This research uses snowball sampling method and
data collection is obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, and
document study. The data obtained from the research results were analyzed using

from socio-economic and ecological aspects. There are several responses /
