Ekstrak Astaxanthin Dari Limbah Udang Vanname (Litopenaeus Vannamei) Berpotensi Sebagai Antioksidan Dengan Menggunakan Etanol Konsentrasi Berbeda
ABSTRACT
The goal of this study was to determine the effect of ethanol solvent
concentrations on astaxanthin levels and antioxidant capacity of vanname shrimp
waste (Litopenaeus vanname). The method used was an experimental method with
a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 3 levels of treatment K1
(ethanol concentration 70%) K2 (ethanol concentration 80%) and K3 (ethanol
concentration 90%). Thi study was divided into 2 stages: 1) production of
vanname shrimp skin and head flour 2) astaxanthin extraction and antioxidant
capacity test of vanname shrimp skin and head waste. The parameter tested in this
study were identification of astaxanthin and antioxidant capacity. This study
showed that variations of ethanol concentration created very significant effect on
the astaxanthin content, which was 48,46 ppm on K1 treatment (70%
concentration), 53,20 ppm on K2 treatment (80% concentration) and 55,11 ppm
on K3 treatment (90% concentration). Antioxidant capacity and IC50 values of
each treatment was as follows: K1 (454,71 mg/mL), K2 (267,24 mg/mL) and K3
(172,77 mg/mL). IC50 number indicate that the antioxidant activity of vanname
shrimp skin and head flour were considered weak and inactive.
