ABSTRACT
The losses due to termite attacks are very large for humans, so research is
carried out with the aim of, among others, 1. Identifying the types of termites
found in buildings or houses in every village in Benai District, Kuantan Singingi
Regency 2. Identifying the impact of termite attacks on buildings 3. Calculating
the frequency of termite attack on buildings. The method in this research is data
processing using quantitative descriptive analysis, using percentage analysis
techniques. The sample selection was carried out by purposive sampling, the
sample used was 16 villages in Benai District. The results of the observations
made were that the termites with the type Macrotermes gilvus were parts of found
in the house close to the ground such as the walls of the house and windows, they
worked to find food by traveling on the ground. The conclusions of the study are
1. The types of termites found at the study site are the subterranean termites
Macrotermes gilvus, with the family Termitidae. 2. Impact of termite attacks on
buildings or houses, such as damage to roof structures, damage to window frames,
damage to doors, damage to house walls and damage to furniture. The damage
caused by termites is in the form of building components at first with small holes,
over time they eventually become porous and are not suitable for use anymore. 3.
The highest frequency of termite attacks on buildings in every village in Benai
sub-district is found in Pulau Kalimanting and Simandolak villages. Meanwhile,
the lowest frequency is found in Benai and Benai Kecil Villages.
