Papan Partikel Dari Pelepah Daun Sagu (Metroxylon Sagu Rottb.) Dengan Berbagai Variasi Perendaman
ABSTRACT
One of the substitute materials for wood in wood production is
particleboard. Particleboard can be made using other lignucelulosic materials.
Extractive substances in raw materials can affect the manufacturing process as
well as the quality of the produced particleboard. An effective treatment is needed
to reduce extractive substances in particle board raw materials as an effort to
improve the quality of particle board so that the resulting particle board can be
used as an optimal wood substitute. This study aims to determine the
characteristics of the particle board of sago leaf midrib (Metroxylon sago Rottb.)
with various immersion variations. Testing of the physical and mechanical
properties of particleboard includes density, moisture content, thickness
expansion, modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR), and
hardness of screw release. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of
variance (ANOVA) and duncan’s new multiple range test (DNMRT). The results
showed that the physical and mechanical properties of particleboard that meet SNI
03-2105-2006 standards are moisture density, thickness expansion and modulus of
elasticity. Meanwhile, the Modulus of Breaking and the tightness to remove the
threads have not met the SNI 03-2105-2006 standards. The test results showed the
average density ranged from 0,48 – 0,66 g/cm3, the average moisture content
ranged from 6,40 – 12,60 %, the average thickness ranged from 0,68 – 8,90 % ,
The mean modulus of elasticity (MOE) ranged from 3,87104 -13,13104
kgf/cm2, the mean modulus of rupture (MOR) ranged from 6,18 to 56,35 kgf/cm2,
and the mean the average pullout firmness ranged from 0,40 to 0,49 kgf/cm2.
