Pengaruh Sertifikasi Rspo Terhadap Tingkat Pendapatan Anggota Asosiasi Petani Sawit Swadaya Amanah Di Kecamatan Ukui Kabupaten Pelalawan Tahun 2013-2014
This thesis explains the factors influencing Indonesia to join the RSPO and
the MOU signing between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia
on Implementing Sustaibale Palm Oil Production in Indonesia. The consequence
of the MOU was the certification of palm oil plantation across Indonesia starting
from big scale to self-subsistent plantations. Swadaya Amanah Palm Oil Farmers
Association was one of the self-subsistent farmer groups which gained the RSPO
certification in 2013. The RSPO principles and criteria which transformed the
self-subsistent farmers’ cultivating pattern should encourage the increase of their
productivity and income rate.
The reseach applied the mix method (qualitative and quantitative method).
Such method was considered more appropriate to address the question in the
research. The perspective in the research was the green theory which emphasizes
the importance of environmental perpective in development including palm oil
plantations. In addition, the research applied the concept of international trade,
international environmental regime and international organization.
That the Indonesian government became the RSPO member was
encouraged by several reasons. First, there existed the similar perspective
between the RSPO and regulations in Indonesia. Second, the negative campaign
against Indonesia palm oil production still continued. Third, the contribution of
palm oil sector to Indonesia’s foreign exchange was the largest after the oil and
gas sector. Fourth, as many as 41 percents of palm oil plantaions were owned by
small scale farmers in rural areas that the productivity increase was necessary to
raise the prosperity through the sustainable cultivation of palm oil. The research
found that the implementation of RSPO principles and criteria had a significant
impact towards productivity and incomes among the self-subsistent farmers,
particularly those who belonged to Swadaya Amanah Palm Oil Farmers
Association in the Sub-Region of Ukui, Region of Pelalawan.
Key words : RSPO, Swadaya Amanah Palm Oil Farmers Association, income,
green theory.
