Analisis Resepsi Transgender Dalam Channel Youtube Menjadi Manusia Tayangan Dari Perspektif Seorang Transpria Tentang Pencarian Jati Diri
In people's lives we recognize the term transgender which is considered a
gender identity outside of men and women naturally. Stigmatization in Indonesian
society against those who choose to be 'different' from the people in the
surrounding environment is growing so thick. This triggered the emergence of a
video entitled "From the Perspective of a Trans Man About the Search for
Identity" on the Menjadi Manusia youtube channel. This video tells about Amar
Alfikar, a Transman Muslim, who tells his life experience in finding the need for
identity. The audience who watched this video gave rise to meanings according to
their cultural and social background. This study aims to determine theposition
dominant reading, negotiated reading, and oppositional reading of the audience
towards transgender in the video "From the Perspective of a Transman About
Searching for Identity" on the Menjadi Manusia youtube channel.
This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research that focuses on
reception analysis. The research data was obtained through a process of
observation, in-depth interviews and documentation with seven informants from
five different educational backgrounds who were selected using techniques,
purposive namely Icha, Faiz, Salwa, Hanafi, Taufik, Niko, and Irman. The data
analysis technique used is reception analysis method which consists of data
collection, analysis, interpretation and reception. In addition, the technique of
checking the validity of the data uses source triangulation.
The results of the first study indicate that five out of seven informants
perceive or agree with the message conveyed (dominant) to transgender people in
the video "From the Perspective of a Transman About the Search for Identity".
Second, several informants who agreed with the message conveyed in the video,
gave some exceptions (negotiated) to the message conveyed in the video. Then the
third, the informant rejected the message (oppositional) of several messages
about transgender in the video based on the references they had. The difference in
the way the informants perceive transgender in the video is due to several factors,
namely age, education, experience, and religion.
