Pemaknaan E-Sport Bagi Anggota Tim Game 13 Link E-Sport Pekanbaru

The rapid development of technology and online games has made a lot of
online game matches done. This triggers the phenomenon of E-sports. There are
many people who follow E-sports and join professional E-sports teams. One of
them who experienced this E-Sport phenomenon was a member of the game team
13 Link E-sport Pekanbaru. This study aims to find out how the motives, meaning
of games, meaning of E-sport and communication experiences of game team
members 13 Link E-sport Pekanbaru
This study uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological
approach. The research subjects consisted of four members of the 13 Link E-sport
Pekanbaru game team who were selected using a snowball technique. This study
uses data collection techniques consisting of in-depth interviews, participant
observation and documentation. To achieve the validity of the data in this study,
the researchers used extended participation, persistence of observation and
triangulation.
The results of this study indicate that first, the motives of the members of
the 13 Link E-sport Pekanbaru game team consist of motives because (because to
motive) the hobby of playing games, trends, social environment and earning
money. While the motive for (in order to motive) consists of popularity, changing
people's views, making the nation proud and developing E-Sports. Second, the
meaning of games for members of the 13 Link E-sport Pekanbaru game team
consists of games as a means of entertainment, communication media and games
as the world. Third, the meaning of E-sport for members of the Pekanbaru 13
Link E-sport game team is as a home and as a means of proof. Fourth, the
communication experience of 13 Link E-sport Pekanbaru game team members is
categorized into two, namely pleasant communication experiences and unpleasant
communication experiences. The form of a pleasant communication experience in
this case is in the form of new friends, support from the surrounding environment
and better known and recognized by others. Meanwhile, in the form of unpleasant
communication experiences, such as getting rejected from family, old friends stay
away and are looked down upon by others.
