ABSTRACT
Ketapang leaf extract is a substance obtained from the extraction of raw
materials produced from plants such as ketapang, used as raw materials in the
treatment of external diseases (skin diseases). The aim of the study was to
distinguish the characteristics of fresh and unfresh ketapang leaf extracts as
ingredients for skin diseases. The method used is the evaporation method
(extraction using water vapor), the characteristics of the two treatments of
ketapang leaves are different such as color and odor, the color of the fresh
ketapang leaf extract is yellow-brown, does not have a distinctive odor, while the
fresh ketapang leaf extract is reddish brown, has an odor. like medicine (bitter).
The results of the GC-MS spectra of not fresh ketapang leaf extract contained 13
organic compounds. The GC-MS spectra of ketapang leaf extract contained one
compound with the highest content capacity, namely the compound 6,9,10-
Trimethoxy-12H-benz (6,7) oxepino which functions as antibacterial, antifungal
and relieves itching, the extract produced is small. so it does not work optimally
and has no effect on human skin. Drugs for skin diseases (meccaya 88) in
pharmacies have an effect on human skin because it has been tested and contains
Acidum salicylicum, acidun benzoicum, sulfur praecipitatum, camphora,
mentholum, vaseline album, benzoic acid functions as an antiseptic or the same as
tannins to treat diseases caused by fungi as well as minor bacterial infections such
as tinea versicolor, scabies, ringworm and water fleas as well as a mixture of
supporting ingredients, thereby reducing itching and healing itching on the skin.
