Pemanfaatan Sumberdaya Hutan Dalam Upacara Adat Begawai Suku Talang Mamak Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu

ABSTRACT
Begawai is a traditional ceremony of the Talang Mamak tribe which is carried
out to celebrate the traditional wedding ceremony of the Talang Mamak tribe.
Begawai traditional ceremonies are sacred ceremonies to commemorate weddings.
Begawai activities cannot be separated from the forest, starting from the use of
forest resources, wedding locations, and rituals performed in the forest. The
Talang Mamak community that is still carrying out Begawai activities is the
Talang Mamak community in Talang Jerinjing Village, West Rengat Sub District
and Siambul Village, Batang Gangsal Sub District, in Indragiri Hulu District.
However, forest resources in Talang Jerinjing Village have been increasingly
limited while in Siambul Village have been maintained, thus it is necessary to do
research that aims to find out how the form of utilization of forest resources at the
Begawai traditional ceremony in Talang Jerinjing Village and Siambul Village
then find out how the strategy is used. Talang Mamak tribe has done in fulfilling
forest resources in the traditional employee ritual.
This research has been carried out in Talang Jerinjing Village and Siambul
Village for three months (December 2020 - February 2021) by using the snowball
sampling method which has involved key informants or people who already
understand this traditional ceremony, namely the traditional government of the
Talang Mamak tribe in Talang Jerinjing Village and Siambul Village. Data has
been collected using data collection techniques by means of Participatory
Observation, In-depth Interview, Documentation Study and Comparative Study.
Data has been analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis. Based on this
research, it can be seen that the activities of utilizing forest resources at the
Begawai traditional ceremony in Talang Jerinjing Village have not been fulfilled
due to the increasingly limited forest area and forest resources, while the
utilization of forest resources at the Begawai traditional ceremony in Siambul
Village can still be fulfilled. This is because forest resources and forest area are
still maintained. The strategy that has been carried out by the Talang Mamaks
community in Talang Jerinjing Village in meeting the needs of forest resources in the
Begawai traditional ceremony has been carried out. The strategy that has been carried
out in the Talang Mamak community in Siambul Village has been carried out and
is running well and there is cooperation with the Bukit Tigapuluh National Park.
