Variasi Penambahan Gliserol Terhadap Karakteristik Plastik Biodegradable Pati Biji Cempedak
ABSTRACT
Cempedak seeds was found to have starch content so they can be used as raw
materials for making biodegradable plastics. The purpose of this research was to
study the characteristic of biodegradable plastics from cempedak seeds starch
after addition with different concentration of glycerol. This research was
conducted experimentally using a complete randomized design with four
treatments and four replications, which followed by Duncan's New Multiple
Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The research in this study was P1 (1%
glycerol), P2 (1.5% glycerol), P3 (2% glycerol) and P4 (2.5% glycerol).
Characteristics used in this research are water resistance, water vapor transfer rate,
tensile strength and elongation. Based on the results of the research, the best
treatment is P1 which has water resistance 79.13%, water vapor transfer rate 4.57
g / m2 / hour, tensile strength 24.29 MPa, and elongation 8.34%.
