Pengaruh Terpaan Berita Hoaks Tentang Virus Covid-19 Terhadap Kepatuhan Masyarakat Mentaati Himbauan Pemerintah Kota Pekanbaru

The exposure of hoaks news and public perception of the information received can cause
problems in implementing the appeal from the government. This condition is evident from the
finding of the level of compliance or the occurrence of several violations of the government's
appeal regarding Large-Scale Social Restrictions in Pekanbaru City.
This study aims to determine the impact of fake news about covid-19 virus on public
compliance in obeying the appeal from the Goverment of Pekanbaru. The method used is
quantitative research with the type of explanation. The theory that researchers use in this
research is the S-R theory. The population used in this study is the people of Pekanbaru City with
the number of samples taken as many as 100 people. The sampling technique used is purposive
sampling. Data collection techniques using electronic questionnaires taken from the google docs
application. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression with the help of SPSS
25.0.
The results of the study indicate that Hoaks News Exposure has an influence on Public
Compliance as evidenced by the t-count value of 7.437 t table 1.985 with a significance of 0.000
0.05. The percentage of exposure to hoaks news about the Covid-19 virus on people's
compliance with the government's appeal is 36.1% while the remaining 63.9% is explained by
other variables.
