Online media is one form of communication media development at this
time. In using online media, new media literacy is very much needed in filtering
the information obtained and will be disseminated again. According to the
framework created by Lin et al. (2013) acknowledged that New Media Literacy
consists of 4 indicators, namely Functional Consuming, Critical Consuming,
Functional Prosuming, Critical Prosuming, where the four types of media literacy
will be broken down into nine indicators. Instagram is one of the social media
that has many enthusiasts in Indonesia and ranks first among many social media
platforms. Instagram is not only effective for communicating media, but also
effective for providing online information, both general information and specific
information. The @tribunpekanbaru account is an Instagram account that
provides information about news, especially in the Riau area. The purpose of this
research is to find out how big the level of new media literacy of Instagram
account followers @tribunpekanbaru in accessing clickbait news in online media
tribunpekanbaru.com.
This study uses quantitative research methods. Data collection techniques
used are questionnaires and documentation. The method of distributing
questionnaires is done online using a google form. The population in this study
was 138,000 followers, then using the Taro Yamane formula, a sample of 399
respondents was obtained. The data analysis technique in this study used
descriptive statistical techniques.
The results of this study indicate that the level of online media literacy of
followers of the Instagram account @tribunpekanbaru in accessing clickbait news
in online media tribunpekanbaru.com is relatively high. This can be seen from the
results of data processing based on six indicators, each of which reaches an
average scale of 3.06 on the Functional Consuming indicator, a scale of 2.87 on
the Critical Consuming indicator, a scale of 2.82 on the Functional Prosuming
indicator, and a scale of 2.78 on the Critical Prosuming indicator. So the
conclusion obtained by using the formula for the average of all indicators is 2.88
which is included in the high scale range. This shows that the followers of
@tribunpekanbaru are quite intelligent followers with a high literacy level so they
are not interested in clickbait news titles.
