Komunikasi Instruksional Guru Dalam Meningkatkan Kemampuan Belajar Matematika Pada Siswa Tunagrahita Jenjang Sd Di Slb Sri Mujinab Pekanbaru
Mathematics is one of the lesson that must be followed by intellectual
disability students at elementary school at Special School of Sri Mujinab
Pekanbaru. The condition of intellectual disability students make learning procces
to be not easy, because students need intense guidance through an individual
approach in the process of understanding mathematical material using media and
methods that are adapted to student’s conditions. Therefore, teachers use
instructional communication in order to change student behavior to be able to
math material. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning methods
used, learning media and communication barriers that occur in the teaching and
learning process of mathematics at special school of Sri Mujinab Pekanbaru.
This study uses qualitative research methods. The subjects in the research
were teachers, and students guardian at special school of Sri Mujinab Pekanbaru
who were selected using a purposive technique. The data collection technique
consists of observation, interviews, and documentation. While the data analysis
techniques using interactive analysis according to Miles and Huberman. The data
validity techniques in this research is the extension of the data participation and
triangulation.
The results showed that method instructional used by teachers in learning
mathematics is command method, lecture, and drill. The learning media in
learning mathematics of intelectual disability students is image and concrete
media. Instructional communication barriers in learning mathematics of
intelectual disability include barriers to sources is used high language, teacher
speaks too fast, and use of inappropriate intonation, barriers to the channels is
lack of available props, and the language of the book is too high and not in
accordance with the students' abilities, and barriers to the communicant is
intellectual barriers namely of weak memory and thinking power,
emotional/psychological barriers is low interest in learning, and difficult to
control emotions. The result of this research can become a reference material for
Special School of SLB Sri Mujinab Pekanbaru to develop more interesting and
varied learning in the future.
