Peranan Pengawasan Internal Dalam Tahapan Pemilihan Bupati Dan Wakil Bupati Kepulauan Meranti Tahun 2020

Simultaneous Regional Head Elections in 2020 are direct Regional Head
Elections conducted in Indonesia since 2015 which were held simultaneously
throughout Indonesia on the same date and day to elect the Governor and Deputy
Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent and Mayor and Deputy Mayor. In 2020,
270 electoral districts will participate in simultaneous elections consisting of 261
regencies and cities, as well as 9 provinces. However, the 2020 Regional Head
Election is somewhat different from the previous simultaneous Regional Head
Election, because the 2020 election at the time of the election stage was already
underway the Covid-19 pandemic hit the whole world, including in Indonesia.
National election commission (KPU) of Kepulauan Meranti is one of the
organizers holding the 2020 Election, namely in the election of the Regent and
Deputy Regent of Kepulauan Meranti. In this paper, the author will discuss the
role of internal control in the stages of Updating Voter Data, Nominations,
Logistics Distribution and Voting and Counting in the Election of Regents and
Deputy Regents of Kepulauan Meranti in 2020 and what obstacles are faced in
the stages of Updating Voter Data, Nominations, Logistics Distribution and
Collection and Calculation of the 2020 Kepulauan Meranti Regent and Deputy
Regent Elections. The method used in this paper is a qualitative method. From the
results of the study, it was found that all stages of the 2020 Regent and Deputy
Regent Elections could run well and in accordance with statutory regulations.
