Strategi Kelapa Sawit Indonesia Pasca Red II Uni Eropa
This research was motivated by the existence of a new RED II regulation
in 2019 as a further development and revision of the old Renewable Energy
Directive. In this regulation, it is stated that there is a desire to stop palm kernel
oil as a biofuel in the European Union in 2030 and the plan is to start reducing it
in 2024. palm oil is rated as a cause of deforestation. In that arrangement, palm
oil is classified as a high-risk renewable energy source because of the ILUC palm
oil emission content. As a palm oil industrial country, of course, this policy is
considered discriminatory and the EU is very detrimental. for Indonesia. This
study aims to look at the response to REDII and how Indonesia's efforts to deal
with REDII regulations, as well as efforts to develop the palm oil industry after
the European Union's REDII regulations. and Indonesia's efforts to save its palm
oil industry.
This study uses a qualitative approach to describe Indonesia as a state
actor. In this study, using library resect data collection with sources in the form of
articles, international journals, books, websites, and previous research as a
reference for authors in research.
The results of this study are that in facing discrimination against the
European Union's RED II, Indonesia uses a diplomatic strategy in increasing
exports of palm oil and its derivatives and issues several policies in an effort to
develop the palm oil industry, namely improving human resources, strengthening
research, improving administration, accelerating ISPO certification, facilities and
infrastructure. infrastructure, improved management of land certification, oil
palm roadmap, renewable energy for oil palm, oil palm rejuvenation. in
increasing exports of palm oil and its derivative products, namely by
strengthening trade diplomacy to fulfill domestic renewable energy, strong
commitment related to palm oil downstreaming, positive campaign efforts,
approaches with partner countries, prohibition of goods with the palm oil free
label, sustainable palm oil education both at home and abroad. abroad, as well as
a lawsuit to the WTO as a world trade organization.
