Peran Food And Agriculture Organization Di Suriah Tahun 2011-2017 (Studi Kasus: Krisis Pangan Suriah)
This research focuses on the role of the Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO) in dealing with the Syria food crisis in 2011-2017. The food
crisis in Syria is caused by several things. First, the extreme climate in the form of
drought for four consecutive years has an impact on crop failure. Second, the
conflict due to demands for reform and regime change of Bashar Al-Assad. Third,
there is the dominance of the Syi’ah Alawiyah minority over Syrian politics. FAO
in this case serves as an international organization in the Syria's food crisis.
This research uses descriptive reseach method with qualitative data
analysis technique. This research is analyzed using role and International
Organization theory. Where the purpose of this study is to describe phenomena,
Symptoms, events 0r events that occur. This reseach uses primary data collection
thecniques and secondary data. Then connects theory with data obtained trough
library research.
The role of the Food and Agriculture Organization in this research can be
seen from the programs provided, including: TCP (Technical Cooperation
Project) FAO, Emergency Food Assistance to People Affected by Unrest in Syria,
FAO Air Deliveries to Provide Humanitarian Support to Besieged and Hard to
Reach Areas in Syria, and FAO’s FFS programme (farmer field schools
programme). FAO and Japan cooperation through the program “promoting sefreliant
livelihoods through employment and micro-enterpreneurship. FAO and
WFP collaboration with the implementation Joint FAO/WFP Crop and Food
Supply Assessment Missions.
