Uji Efektivitas Ekstrak Daun Mahang Damar (Macaranga Triloba) Sebagai Anti Nyamuk

ABSTRACT
Macaranga triloba can be used as traditional medicine such as diarrhea, wound treatment.
fever, antimicrobial, antifungal, antiallergic, anticancer and antibiotic because it contains
flavonoids, saponins and tannins. One of the uses of Macaranga triloba that can be utilized is
to make it a natural insecticide because of the bioactive substances contained in Macaranga
triloba. Because it is insecticidal, it is hoped that the bioactives subtances can replace
mosquito repellent with chemicals circulating in the community to reduce the adverse effects
of using these chemical mosquito repellents. This research was carried out in the Forestry
laboratory and the Natural Materials and Minerals Engineering laboratory. This study aims to
examine the quality of Macaranga triloba extract by observation, yield, color, odor test and
skin sensitivity. The test of the effectiveness of protection against mosquitoes as well as the
phytochemical test for the content of Macaranga triloba can meet the criteria of the
Regulation of the Pesticide Commission of the Ministry of Agriculture in 1995. The results
obtained, the yield has a value of 8.28%, the extract is brown, the distinctive aroma is
reduced (the smell of sugar cane is slightly acidic), and the extract does not have any
sensation when exposed to the skin. From the phytochemical test, it was proven that the
extract contained flavonoids and tannins, for saponins were not found this was thought to be
influenced by the solvent used. Extract is able to reject 100%. at the 1st hour, 80% at the 2nd
hour, 52% at the 3rd hour boredom, 3,36% at the 4th hour, 30% at the 5th hour and 9% at the
6th hour. The protection of the extract which only lasts 80% until the 2nd hour and below
80% until the 6th hour is presumably because the extract is a natural material that is easily
biodegradable.
