Rancang Bangun Sistem Soft-Starter Untuk Motor Induksi Tiga Fasa Rotor Sangkar
ABSTRACT
An induction motor is an electrical device that converts electrical energy into
mechanical energy. Induction motors have many advantages in terms of both
technical and economic. However, induction motors also have drawbacks,
including a large starting current (5 to 7 times the normal current) which can result
in a decrease in system voltage and interfere with the work of other equipment
systems in one line. A starting method for induction motors is needed which aims
to reduce the large initial starting current, namely the soft starting method, it is
hoped that the voltage and current from the power source can flow into the 3-phase
induction motor gradually by providing different triggering angles, so that it does
not requires a large starting current. Soft starting is done using power electronics
components, namely thyristors which are arranged in anti-parallel, with the
ignition angle controlled by IC TCA 785. The soft-starter system that is made is
only able to adjust the load current symmetrically until the thyristor ignition angle
is 65°. In this case, at an ignition angle of 65º the voltage waveform is pure
sinusoidal. Tests with thyristor ignition angles of 50°, 55°, 60°, 65°, 75°, and 90°
angles show that there is no significant change in the starting current of the 3-phase
induction motor and the value is the same as the starting current using the DOL
method ( Direct On Line) which is equal to 0.23 A.
