Faktor-Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Tingkat Penggunaan Steam Pada Dryer Section Di Paper Machine #1
ABSTRACT
In the process of making paper there is a process called a paper machine. One of
the stages in the paper machine is the drying stage (dryer section). The drying
process occurs using steam that flows into the cylinder and heat transfer occurs in
the paper by conduction. As a result of this treatment, the water content of the
paper is reduced by evaporation. The paper drying process requires a large
amount of thermal energy which is usually provided in the form of steam. This
making the dryer section the largest user of heat energy and by far the most
expensive part of the paper-making process. The research was conducted at the
Dryer Section Paper Machine 1 unit of PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper aims to
determine whether the use of steam in Dryer Section Paper Machine 1 is efficient
and to determine the factors that affect the level of steam usage. Based on the data
that has been obtained, it can be seen that the efficiency level of using steam in
the dryer section is 122% on average. Data monthly report steam usage
compared to the budget. Based on the results of the comparison of steam usage
data obtained from monthly reports with steam usage data based on budget
(steam/gross) in the dryer section, which is 1.33 t/t, the average level of steam
usage savings in the dryer section paper machine 1 is 92%. This shows that the
percentage of saving on steam usage in the dryer section of Paper Machine 1 is
quite high. Based on the results of the analysis during the final project, it was
found that the factors that affect the level of steam usage are material factors
(grammage and moisture) and machine factors (speed, break, damage to dryer
components, leaks in steam distribution lines).
