Tradisi Menganta Duit Belanjo Pada Perkawinan Masyarakat Melayu Di Bagansiapiapi Kecamatan Bangko Kabupaten Rokan Hilir
This research was conducted in Bagan Punak urban Village, Bagansiapiapi, Bangko District, Rokan Hilir Regency. This research aims to determine the procedure for determining duit belanjo and changes in the procedure for determining duit belanjo that occur in the tradition of giving duit belanjo at weddings in the Malay community. This research used descriptive qualitative methods with 6 (six) person as subjects consisting of 3 (there) persons key informants and 3 (there) persons as subjects. To collect data in this research, observation, interviews and documentation techniques were used. Bagansiapiapi is a Riau Malay tribe who lives in Rokan Hilir Regency. The Bagansiapiapi community has traditions in marriage, one of which is the tradition of handing over money. The tradition of giving belanjo money at the wedding of the Bagansiapiapi Malay community is a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation, of course, from previous ancestors. Duit Belanjois gift money that must be given by the prospective groom to the prospective bride for the purposes of the wedding party and also to purchase equipment for the entire room. This tradition also experienced several changes, such as: changes to the nominal amount of shopping money and the procedures for determining it. This change in tradition has reaped both positive and negative impacts from several communities and traditional leaders. The Bagansiapiapi Malay community considers that Duit Belanjois a condition for a wedding to take place. If there are relatives or neighbors who want to carry out a marriage, the first thing the relative or neighbor will ask is how much money they will pay. If they feel that the amount of shopping money does not match the social status of the bride's family, they will receive gossip from neighbors and become a source of comparison for them and the surrounding community.
