Kondisi Ekologis Perairan Sungai Tenayan Pekanbaru
This research was conducted on Mei 2009 in the Tenayan River
Pekanbaru. The aim of this research is to understand general ecological condition
of the water of Tenayan River waters based on the water quality parameters and
macrozoobenthos community structure. Research site was divided into four
stations and each station consisted of two sampling points. Samples were taken
two times, once a week.
Results shown that macrozoobenthos obtained are belonged to four
classes, namely Oligochaeta : (Tubifex sp.); Dipthera : (Chironomus sp.);
Coleopthera : (Hydrophilus triangularis), and Bivalve : (Pilsbryoconcho exilis).
The density of macrozoobenthos was 35 - 193 organisms/m2, diversity
index value (H’) was 0 - 1.63. Dominance index value (C) was 0.33 - 1. Based on
H’., C and water quality values, it can be concluded that the water of Tenayan
River can be categorized as medium to highly polluted, as it is indicated by the
presence of Tubifex sp. and Chironomus sp. that are represent as pollution
indicators.
Keywords: macrozoobenthos, Tenayan River, water pollution, Tubifex sp. and
