ABSTRACT
Motor vehicle population in Indonesia is quite high, reaching 94.2 million units in 2013 from 84.19 million units the previous year. Fuel used by these vehicles also will be exhausted within the next few years and is not renewable. To overcome the above problem, the authors make the electric vehicle Electric Bike that is likely to replace 94.2 million motorcycles who spent fuel. Manufacture of electric bikes starting from data collection, the selection of design models, design drawings, determination of the size of the components, manufacturing processes, and assembly processes. The working principle of electric bikes originated from the accumulator that serves as a source of energy in electric bikes. When the switch is activated, the entire electrical system on the bike will be connected. Then when the gas handle is pulled, the electrical system will give the command / signal to the controller to issue the current to the motor / dynamo. The amount of current that will be provided by the controller to the motor / dynamo depends on the handle of the gas to be withdrawn. If the handle of the gas is drawn, then the current will be given by the controller to the motor / dynamo would be great too. Electric bikes chooper type is able to travel a maximum speed of 40 km / h with electric bike rider weight of 54 kg. In addition, electric bikes can save costs by the difference in comparison with the motorcycle is Rp. 3748.80. Charging time required for battery charging is 4-8 hours long with 30 minutes continuous usage.
