Perbedaan Konsep Diri Remaja Yang Tinggal Bersama Orangtua Dengan Remaja Yang Tinggal di Panti Asuhan

The purpose of this research was to determine compare the self-concept between the adolescents who lived with parents and adolescents who lived in orphanage. The research used descriptive analytic design with comparative study. The research was conducted in two population, they were adolescents who lived in orphanage Pekanbaru, which are Al Istiklal orphanage, Al Hidayah orphanage, and As Shohwah orphanage, with number of sample 36 respondents. It was taken by using cluster sampling and while in Tuah Karya, with number of sample 36 adolescents, was taken by using simple random sampling. This research used questionnaire Tennessee Self Concept Scale (TSCS) as instrument which its validity and reliability had been tested. Chi Square test was used to analyze the data. The result of this research showed that adolescents who lived with parents have positive self concept a little more that adolescents lived in orphanage were 21 adolescents (58,3%) in parents and 18 adolescents (50,0%) in orphanage. Based on the result findings, it can be inferred that there is no difference between self concept adolescents who lived with parents and adolescents lived in orphanage (p value 0,636 > 0,05). Based on the result of this research, it is expected that the orphanage staffs should give counseling care to the adolescents in order to understand their feeling and increase their self-concept.
