Pemanfaatan Lempung Cengar Hasil Ekstraksi 0,4 Mol H2so4 Sebagai Koagulan Cair Untuk Air Gambut
Clay contains various metal oxides, like Al2O3 and Fe2O3, consequently it can be used as a source of coagulant. Coagulant preparation was began with clay calcination at 500oC for 3 hours, then leached using 0,4 mol H2SO4. Leaching process was conducted in various leaching temperature and time, they were 30, 60, 100oC and 1, 2, 3 hours to get liquid coagulants. The liquid coagulants were applied for peat water treatment and several of water parameters were analyzed, such as odor, colour, pH, turbidity, TSS, TDS and organic matter content. Variation of coagulant volume was studied for three optimum coagulant using statistic with ANOVA. The analysis result of odor, colour, turbidity and organic matter content were compared with PERMENKES RI No. 416/MENKES/ PER/IX/1990 “Tentang Syarat-syarat Dan Pengawasan Kualitas Air”. The analysis result of pH, TSS, TDS and Fe concentration were compared to PP No. 82 Tahun 2001 “Tentang Pengelolaan Kualitas Air dan Pengendalian Pencemaran Air”. The result showed that coagulant from Cengar clay can fixed all of water parameters that analyzed, except pH. Statistic analysis using ANOVA showed that the variation of coagulant volume was not affect all parameters that have been analyzed. After compared to PERMENKES RI No. 416/MENKES/PER/IX/1990 and PP No. 82 Tahun 2001, only odor, turbidity and TDS fulfilled the standard. Liquid coagulant K30-2 that made from leaching at 30oC for 3 hours gave the higher removal percentage for all parameters. This result was reached by using 5 mL of coagulant in 100 mL of peat water. Removal percentage (%) for each parameter are colour (90,94), turbidity (91,67), TSS (99,33), TDS (97,73), organic matter content (71,25) and Fe concentration (12,97).
