Women's participation in politics in Indonesia was motivated by the reaction of women, who initially faced various obstacles, both from within the women's own (internal) as well as the constraints of the outside (external). According Nadezdha Shvedova1, women who enter the world of politics, particularly parliament, has a number of obstacles, both political, socio-economic and ideological-psychological. The fundamental issues in the political struggles of women in Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) is a strong gender inequality in the structure and culture of society. This is indicated by the few women who hold public office and is able to play an active role in political life. Through interviews with informants who are women candidates in the 2014 legislative elections, giving a picture of the struggle of women to the election in the District Inhil.Penelitian aims to determine the barriers and strategies of political struggle Inhil female candidates. This research is a descriptive study that aimed to describe the real situation on the ground systematically and accurately related the facts as well as the unit of analysis and observation research based on the data (information) in particular. Techniques of data collection was done by interview. The results showed that some groups of women in Inhil have easier access to plunge into the world of politics compared to other women. Having an official family backgrounds and have substantial capital to plunge into the world of politics is a political modality that is very beneficial for some of the women in Inhil politics.
