Analisis Fraksi Sedimen Secara Vertikal Di Perairan Selat Rupat Provinsi Riau

The study was conducted in November 2017 at Rupat Strait, Riau Province, to investige the changing of vertical sediment characteristic. Four core sediment samples were taken based on abrasion and sedimentation proceses using 120 cm pipe. The results show sediment characteristic was dominated by mud fraction. Shepard diagram reveale 3 types of sediment namely sandy mud, muddy sand and mud. The mean size (Mz) of abrasion area (station I and III) was 2,97-6,13∅ and containe 4 sediment fractions: medium silt, coarse silt, fine sand and fine silt; the sorting coefficient was arround 1,79-3,16 consiste of poorly sorted and very poorly sorted category. The mean size (Mz) of sedimentation (station II and IV) was 3,23-7,20∅ which contained 4 sediment fractions: medium silt, coarse silt, fine silt, and very fine sand; the sorting coefficient was arround 1,02-3,07 (poorly sorted and very poorly sorted)
