Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) used to nest in the Jemur Island, Rokan Hilir. Characteristics of nesting area preferred by the turtle, however, are almost unknown. A research aimed to understand the nesting area characteristic of C. mydas in the Jemur Island was conducted from March-April 2017, coincidence with the nesting time of the turtle. Observation of the nesting area of green turtle was conducted in the Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern parts of the island. Parameters studied were the slope of the beach, the distance between the nest and the water edge during the high tide, sand texture, types of vegetations around the nest, number of nests present and the quality of water around the island. Results shown that the green turtle nest is found only in the Southern and Eastern part of the Jemur Island. In that area, the coast’s slope ranged from 0.88-5.66%, the distance between the water edge during the high tide and the nest ranged from 11.30-20.20 m, the substrate texture was dominated by sand (> 90%), and silt (1.82-5.31 %). The nest temperature was 28.9-33.40C, nest humidity was 40.0-45.1 % and the common vegetation in the island was Terminalia catappa and Hibiscus tiliaceus.
