Potensi Biji Karet (Havea Brasiliensis) Sebagai Biokoagulan Untuk Pengolahan Air Gambut
Biocoagulant is a natural coagulant from organism like seeds. Proteins in biocoagulants act as coagulant agents in coagulation. In this research, biocoagulant were made from rubber seeds extracted using aqua DM for 2 minutes at room temperature (25 ± 2°C), and dried under the sun. Coagulation using Jar floc test was done in various conditions, such as variation of dosage of biocoagulant (0,50; 0,75; 1,0; 1.25; 1.50; 1.75; 2,0) g and pH variation of peat water (pH 1-7). The result of peat water analysis after coagulations with optimum biocoagulant was pH peat water (pH 3), biocoagulant dosage 1 g with removal percentage of color 96%, turbidity 97%, organic substance 91%, TSS 68% ,TDS 89%, also sianida 85% and the pH of peat water had increased from pH 3,0 to pH 3,5. Coagulation using biocoagulant can improve peat water quality. The character of peat water is compared with PERMENKES RI No.416/MENKES/PER/IX/1990 tentang Syarat-syarat dan Pengawasan Kualitas Air dan Peraturan Pemerintah No.82 Tahun 2001 tentang Pengelolaan Kualitas Air dan Pengendalian Pencemaran Air. Keywords: biocoagulant, rubber seeds, protein, coagulant agent, coagulation, peat water.
