ABSTRACT
Surface water into one part that can not be separated from clean water sources
used by the public. Water flowing on the surface may be contaminated on the way
to water bodies, one of which is the river Belawan in Medan area. Meanwhile, the
raw water used in Water Treatment Plant PDAM Tirtanadi Sunggal, Medan
Belawan River is water. This analysis aims to measure physical and chemical
parameters [ion Iron (Fe2+), Chromium (Cr6+), and Manganese (Mn2+)] of the raw
water and water reservoir on water treatment at the Water Treatment Plant PDAM
Tirtanadi Sunggal, Medan. Regulation of the Minister of Health
492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010 that the threshold of physical parameters such as
turbidity, which is 5 NTU; colors is 15 TCU; temperature is ± 30C; TDS of 500
mg/L; odorless and tasteless and chemical parameters, namely the concentration
of iron (Fe2+), Chromium (Cr6+) and Manganese (Mn2+), respectively, are 0.30
mg/L, 0.05 mg/L and 0.40 mg/L. The analysis showed that the physical
parameters such as turbidity of 23.1 NTU for raw water and 0.75 NTU for water
reservoirs; color with 43 TCU for raw water and 0.00 TCU to water reservoirs;
TDS is 1203 mg/L for raw water and 0.00 mg/L for the water reservoir; ie
temperature 26,20C for raw water and 27,10C to water reservoirs; smelling mud
for raw water and no smell to the water reservoir and tasteless and for chemical
parameters, namely the concentration of Iron (Fe2+) is 0.66 mg/L, Chromium
(Cr6+) is 0.02 mg/L, and Manganese (Mn2+), namely 0.16 mg/L for the raw water
and the concentration of Iron (Fe2+) is 0.05 mg/L, Chromium (Cr6+) of 0.01 mg/L,
and Manganese (Mn2+) is 0.04 mg/L for the water reservoir , Physical and
chemical parameters (Iron, Chromium and Manganese) at the Water Treatment
Plant PDAM Tirtanadi Sunggal, Medan has met quality standards based on the
Regulation of the Minister of Health 492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010 for clean water
as well as Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001 for raw water.
