Gambaran Pencegahan Cedera Jarum Suntik Di Rumah Sakit Pada Mahasiswa Profesi Ners Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Riau
Needle stick injury are a major cause of occupational injury for
healthcare workers, including nursing profession students. The dangerous diseases
that can be transmitted from needle stick injuries are Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and
HIV. Purpose: This study aimed to provide description of needlestick injury
prevention to nursing profession students who have been practiced at Arifin
Achmad Hospital. Method: This study used a simple descriptive design with 110
nursing profession students by using a total sampling technique. The data was
gathered using questionnaire. This study used univariate analysis. Result: The
result showed that majority of nurse program was program A (77.3%) and
majority of respondents were female (85.5%) in program A and (60%) in program
B. The result of study showed that (97.6%) were good enough on needle stick
injury prevention in program A and (100%) in program B. Implementation of
safety box usage were good enough, namely in program A (67.1%) and (56%) in
program B. The applied of non recapping technique were good enough by
(98.8%) students of program A and (100%) students of program B. Application of
the used of double gloves were good enough (91.8%) program A students and
(100%) program B students. Conclusion: In generally nursing profession students
did not realized that importance of needle stick injury prevention, therefore
majority of students were good enough on needle stick injury prevention. This
study can be a refference for educational institutions to provide training that
related to prevention of needle stick injury before professional practice.
