Hubungan Modal Sosial Dan Pendapatan Nelayan Di Desa Sei Nagalawan Kecamatan Perbaungan Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai Sumatera Utara

ABSTRACT
This research was aimed to find out the livelihood and income of
fishermen, to find out the condition of fishermen’s social capital and to find out
the relationship between social capital and fishermen’s income in Sei Nagalawan
Village. This research was used survey method with descriptive qualitative and
quantitative approaches. Respondent in this study amounted to 30 people (20%),
according to Arikunto’s opinion, the data in this research is processed using Rank
Spearman correlation. Based on the data analysis, it was concluded that fishermen
in Sei Nagalawan Village have the main livelihood of fishing with catches
including cuttlefish, octopus, shrimp and others, and additional livelihoods as
parking attendants in mangrove tourism and also as coast guard. In these main and
additional livelihoods, fishermen in Sei Nagalawan Village have a good income.
The social capital of fishermen in Sei Nagalawan Village got a value of 3.472 and
was in the “good” category. The result of Rank Spearman’s test to see the
relationship between social capital and fishermen’s income showed a significant
value of Sig (2-tailed) of 0,000 and the correlation coefficient of 0,685** was
positive (+), which means that if the social capital of fishermen in Sei Nagalawan
Village is increased, the income of fishermen will also increase.
