Kulit Sagu Sebagai Bahan Baku Alternatif Pembuatan Arang Aktif Dengan Aktivator Asam Fosfat
This research aims to obtain the best activation time in the making of activated charcoal from sago bark and activator H3PO4 10%. This research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications to obtain 20 experimental units. The treatments in this research was charcoal activation time of 24 hours, 26 hours, 28 hours, 30 hours, 32 hours. The data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The results of variance showed that different charcoal activation times significantly affected on yield, moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, fixed carbon content, and iodine absorption. The best treatment in this research was the 32 hours treatment with a yield 90.24%, moisture content 2.43%, ash content 6.28%, volatile matter content 2,00%, pure activated carbon 89,29%, and iodine absorbency 966.76 mg/g.
